Understanding What You May Be Seeing
If something does not feel right
Trafficking and exploitation do not always look the way people expect. Many situations involve pressure, manipulation, deception, or control rather than obvious physical force.
Some common signs
- A person is not free to come and go as they choose.
- Someone else closely controls where they go, who they speak to, or what they do.
- They are pressured into sexual activity, labor, or illegal acts.
- They are threatened, watched, or made afraid to leave.
- Their identification, money, or phone is controlled by another person.
- Promises of work, care, love, or support were used to pull them into the situation.
If any of this sounds familiar
You do not need to settle the question on your own before reaching out. If something feels wrong, it is enough to start there.
